13 February, 2020, Kathmandu: On the occasion of 25th People’s War Day, All Nepal Federation of Trade Unions (ANTUF) and Janasanskritik Mahasangha jointly organized sharing and cultural programs in Kathmandu.
In the program organized in Parisdanda, Koteswor on 13 February, 2020, as many as 525 leaders and members paid homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their life during 10 years people’ war that brought federal republic by demolishing 240 years of monarchy system in Nepal.
Addressing the program, the President of ANTUF, Mr. Jagat Simkhada applauded the achievements of the historical 10 years’ people war that demolished the old structure impregnated with inequalities, grievances and age-long class, caste, gender and other different forms of discriminations in country.
Mr. Simkhada also expressed straight dissatisfaction towards the Govt. apathy for not paying adequate attention to the plight of the families of martyrs of Peoples War including those injured, disappeared, disabled during the movement.
Mr. Simkhada also criticized on the growing trends of devaluing the significance of people’s war and disrespecting the brave heroes involved in 10 years of people’s war. He also warned that not accepting the contribution of people’s war and sacrifice made by those involved in the war might derail the unification process.
During his address, Mr. Simkhada also commemorated the 21 brave workers who were killed in their work place by royal army on 11 Falgun in Kotwada, Kalikot district. Also in his address, he appealed the gathering to stay united and work together to accomplish the dream of the martyrs who died for the nation.
Program was welcomed by ANTUF Vice-President, Mr. Jaya Karki and followed by address by Senior Leaders, comrade Matrika Yadav, Mani Thapa, Jaypuri Gharti etc. The program was concluded with vote of thanks from ANTUF President.
